What should I check before submitting my assignment?

My assignment is nearly finished, but I am worried that I may have missed some mistakes. Some classmates talked about edit my assignment when sharing ideas about checking their work. I usually check spelling but forget about the structure and references. I want to make a proper checklist before I submit anything. What are the main things students should check in a finished assignment?
